Grenada has received almost US$2 million dollars (EC$5.3M) in humanitarian aid from Saudi Arabia to assist its rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Beryl.
The donation consisted of 21 containers with essentials such as food, diesel generators, chainsaws, hygiene kits, flashlights and emergency materials.
In statement yesterday, Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell expressed gratitude for the support, which he said will improve the country’s preparations in enhancing resilience for the upcoming hurricane season.
The National Disaster Management Agency will coordinate the distribution through relevant ministries and agencies, prioritising vulnerable communities in northern Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique.
Supplies will also be allocated to key institutions such as police stations, health centres, and schools.
