Nickelodeon has the greenlight “Avatar: Seven Havens”.
This will see it build further on the world of “Avatar: The Last Airbender”.
Avatar is set in a world in which some people can telekinetically manipulate one of the four elements: water, earth, fire or air.
The only individual who can bend all four elements is called the Avatar, who is responsible for maintaining world harmony.
According to Variety, the new 2D animated series will consist of 26 half-hour episodes spread across two seasons, or Books 1 & 2 in “Avatar” style.
“Avatar: Seven Havens” is currently in production.
The following the official description: “The series is set in “a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”
The news comes as “Avatar The Last Airbender” prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary, with the original show having debuted on February 21st 2005.
A sequel series called “The Legend of Korra” ran from 2012 to 2014.
