Global applause for Kamla’s General Election victory

Regional and international leaders have sent congratulatory messages to incoming Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

In a post via X, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent heartiest congrats to Mrs Persad-Bissessar.

He said he looks forward to working closely with her to strengthen the countries’ partnership.

Meanwhile, Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados and Chair of CARICOM, said Barbados looks forward to working together in the spirit of partnership and shared purpose.

She congratulated not only the UNC and Mrs. Persad-Bissessar, but the people of T&T for the peaceful exercise of their democratic rights.

Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness also extended best wishes.

He said this heralds a renewed opportunity to deepen and broaden collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including, but not limited to, trade and investment, regional security, energy and climate change.

Guyana’s President Dr Irfaan Ali also acknowledged the strong friendship of both countries, adding he looks forward to our continued collaboration to strengthen our relations and work towards our shared goals of advancing regional integration, economic development and the well-being of the people our region.
