Tilo Kruse has started his barefooted walk around Tobago which is being live streamed on YouTube in a bid to raise awareness about Lupus.

The German backpacker began in Crown Point by symbolically touching the ocean at 9:05am and was joined by a man named Bashir who decided to join the walk.

Kruse is attempting raise donations for the Voice of Lupus Foundation which is seeking to build a local clinic and has a GoFundMe linked to his social media accounts.

Although admitting that it is probably a bad idea, he says he is walking barefooted in solidarity with the “silent suffering” of the Lupus patients.

His latest venture was inspired by a man named Roger, who helped him during his recent walk across Trinidad, from Toco to Icacos.

Roger’s daughter was recently diagnosed with Lupus, an auto-immune disease where the immune system attacks the body’s tissues and organs.
