A gardener was killed when he was struck by a falling tree on Saturday night.

Reports have identified the deceased as 55-year-old Samaroo Ragoonanan of O’Brien Trace, Biche.

Ragoonanan had gone on a fishing trip with a group of friends in the Biche forest.

The T&T Newsday says the man’s younger brother, Ravi Ragoonanan, described the incident as a “freak accident.”
