Fyzabad MP Dr Lackram Bodoe says business owners and residents in his constituency need assurance that police can protect them against criminals.

In a statement today, Mr Bodoe pointed to the murder of Syrian businessman Muath Nassar early on Tuesday morning.

The victim was shot dead while conducting sales in his food outlet.

Dr Bodoe says it has created fear and apprehension within the business community, with claims that some have also been targeted by extortionists.

He says businesses in Fyzabad are currently facing difficult economic times and that the upsurge in criminal activity will only make it worse.
