The funeral of the late Dr. Deokinanan Sharma will take place tomorrow.

A statement from the NCIC says a funeral service will be held at 9am at Woodlands Rd, Valsayn.

This will be followed by a viewing at the NCIC Nagar in Chaguanas at 10:30am, and then to the Caroni Cremation site at 1pm.

Dr Sharma passed away on Friday at the age of 87.

He was a longtime member of the NCIC and was awarded the Hummingbird Medal (Gold) for his loyal and distinguished service to the nation.

In 2012, the University of the West Indies awarded Dr. Sharma the Degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD), Honoris Causa for his strong nationalistic tendencies while pursuing love of culture and community and for his sterling contribution to society.
