A fire broke out at a derelict building in San Fernando around midday.

The unoccupied structure was the old Magistrate’s Court on Harris Street and the cause for the blaze is still not clear.

There were unconfirmed reports that it might have been started by a street dweller.

The old building remains standing, despite being earmarked for removal, and only part had been torn down.
