Finance Minister Colm Imbert says Government will continue to defend challenges which threaten the recovery of taxpayers’ funds spent in the CL Financial bailout.
This comment follows a ruling yesterday by the Caribbean Court of Justice, which stated that T&T did not breach its obligations under the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas when it bailed out the company and its T&T subsidiaries.
The claim had been brought by several nationals of Antigua & Barbuda and Grenada, who were policyholders of British American Insurance Company Limited, a subsidiary of CLF.
In a statement, Mr Imbert says efforts will continue to ensure that Government obtains from CLF, as far as practicable, all money owed to taxpayers.
