One person was injured following an exchange of gunfire at the Gulfstream wreck in Sea Lots.

This week the vessel was towed to Port of Spain from Cove, Tobago.

The Energy Ministry says there was an attempted unauthorized boarding of a support vessel by unidentified individuals last night.

Officers attached to the T&T Coast Guard were on-site and intervened.

According to the Ministry, there was an exchange of gun fire during which time one member of the response crew sustained a non-life-threatening injury.

The Ministry says the wreck site of the Gulfstream in Sea Lots continues to be protected by the  Coast Guard and Police Service.

It adds, “The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries is working closely with the Ministry of National Security, the TTPS, TTCG and Trinidad and Tobago Regiment to ensure the safety and security of the said site.”
