Three escaped inmates from Grenada have been charged with the murder of a US couple.

Police said the suspects hijacked a boat owned by Ralph Henry and Kathy Brandel.

The couple is believed to have been thrown overboard.

The suspects then sailed to St Vincent, where they were arrested.

According to BBC News, 30-year-old Ron Mitchell,25-year-old Atiba Stanislaus, and 23-year-old Trevon Robertson have each been charged with capital murder, escaping lawful custody, housebreaking, robbery and kidnapping.

Stanislaus is also facing rape charges, though police did not specify who he is accused of raping.
