Erla Harewood-Christopher has been sent on vacation leave.
Meanbwhile, Junior Benjamin will continue as Acting Police Commissioner.
In a statement, the Ministry of Homeland Security says Mr Benjamin was made Acting Top Cop on February 6th.
It adds that this appointment will continue until stated otherwise by the Police Service Commission.
As for Mrs Harewood-Christopher’s vacation leave, the release says she had “accrued 66 days’ vacation leave and she has been informed to proceed on leave with effect from today.”
The Ministry adds that the decision was made on advice taken from the Office of the Attorney General.
There has been uncertainty over the status of the post, after a pronouncement this week that Mrs Harewood-Christopher’s suspension was to be lifted.
This, after the DPP said a case against her would not continue.
Despite this, reports say there was no letter forthcoming from the PSC officially reinstating her to the post of Police Commissioner.
