Emergency warning in Japan over Typhoon Shanshan

Typhoon Shanshan has forced officials in Japan to issue an emergency warning.

According to Al Jazeera, Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi said the storm would approach southern Kyushu with “extremely strong force” tomorrow.

It is expected to bring wind gusts of up to 250km/h, “violent winds” and “high waves” stronger than what was experienced in the past.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, Shanshan will strike Kyushu over the next few days, approaching the central and eastern regions, which include the capital, Tokyo, around the weekend.

Carmaker Toyota has shuttered factories and airlines have cancelled flights.
