Caribbean Airlines says there was an emergency landing for one of its planes flying from Tobago to Trinidad last night.

The airline released a statement however it did not state the reason for the emergency landing.

Media reports have cited engine failure.

CAL says Flight BW 1541 landed safely at the Piarco Airport, with all the required operational procedures then followed regarding passengers and crew.

It adds that the ATR 72-600 aircraft has been taken out of rotation to facilitate inspection.
