Agriculture Minister Haji Kazim Hosein says T&T’s ecosystems are at risk, and so, efforts should be made to address issues such as deforestation.

This comes as part of his message for World Environment Day, today.

The theme is “Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience”.

Mr Hosein says there is an urgent need to combat land degradation and build resilience against drought.

He adds that this year, the Ministry has pledged to restore 100 hectares of forest and maintain 500 hectares of planted areas, producing 250,000 seedlings to support these efforts.

He also urged citizens to take action by planting trees, engaging in community cleanups, and supporting sustainable farming practices.
