Education Minister Dr Michael Dowlath has condemned the shooting of 17-year-old Zwade Alleyne.
The teenager is a Form 5 student at the Arima North Secondary School and was in the process of writing the CSEC Exam.
He was struck in the head by a stray bullet while outside his home in East Maloney Gardens on Saturday night
He remains in critical condition at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.
Dr. Dowlath says, “This act of violence against one of our nation’s youth is deeply troubling and wholly unacceptable. Our prayers are with Zwade and his family during this extremely difficult time.”
The Ministry says it will facilitate his re-registration for the May/June 2026 examination period at no cost to his family.
Dr Dowlath adds that it stands ready to provide psychosocial support to his peers and school staff through its Student Support Services Division.
