Ebola cases rise in Uganda

Uganda’s Health Ministry says the number of confirmed Ebola cases in the country has risen to nine, with one confirmed death.

Of the new cases, seven are being treated in a hospital in the capital and one is in a hospital in a city near the Kenyan border.

The Ministry says all eight patients are in a stable condition, while 265 contacts of the confirmed cases have been placed under quarantine.

The latest outbreak is being driven by the Sudan strain of the virus, for which there is no approved vaccine.
