An earthquake swarm was recently recorded near Barbuda.
In an update shared this afternoon, the UWI Seismic Research Centre says the event lasted from November 15th to 19th 2024.
A total of 82 events were recorded, seven of which were large enough to be felt.
The two strongest tremors were magnitude 4.8.
The UWI-SRC says most of the events were not posted to its social media platforms since they were below the 2.9 magnitude threshold.
It also reminds that this area is one of the region’s more seismically active zones, which means persons need to be prepared for earthquakes of any size.
