A drunk driver was arrested yesterday after hitting a 6-year-old boy.

The 31-year-old man from Siparia was allegedly driving erratically at the Clifton Hill Beach Facility.

According to police reports, his vehicle crossed the shoreline, striking the child.

Among the eyewitnesses was an officer-duty police officers.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Point Fortin Police Station, where he reportedly failed a breathalyser test.

He has been charged with driving under the influence, driving without a driver’s licence, and driving without a valid certificate of insurance.

The child is currently hospitalised in a stable condition.
