Dr Rai Ragbir has resigned from the UNC.

The Cumuto/Manzanilla MP has reportedly cited concern over the influence of certain individuals, while also accusing the party of straying from its founding principles.

Dr Ragbir’s resignation follows a scathing statement in February this year, in which he refused to be screened by the party for the General Election.

At that time, he accused the party of becoming“a personality cult devoted entirely to the worship of Kamla Persad-Bissessar.”

He is also the latest in a string of persons to resign from the UNC in recent weeks.
