Dr Radica Mahase: Heckling of women can lead to other forms of abuse

The act of heckling women and girls can turn into other forms of abuse, according to Dr Radica Mahase.

The founder of Support Autism T&T spoke with 103.1FM ahead of International Women’s Day which will be commemorated tomorrow.

Dr Mahase explained that women with autism face discrimination and but noted that all women face the possibility of being subjected to heckling and its associated forms of abuse.

Dr Mahase said one way this behaviour could be addressed is by teaching boys from a young age to treat women differently.

She also urged people to avoid the blame game in cases where women are being abused.

Dr Mahase did however highlight some positive strides that T&T has made for women, including adjustments to laws.
