Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Amery Browne says he felt genuine commitment by the parties involved in yesterday’s Guyana/Venezuela meeting.
Dr Browne was part of the T&T delegation that travelled to St Vincent with Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley as Guyana President Dr Irfaan Ali and his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro met face to face.
The meeting comes amid tensions regarding Venezuela’s claim of the Essequibo region which is controlled by Guyana.
At a media conference today, Dr Browne was asked whether he has confidence that Venezuela will abide by the diplomatic approach to the issue.
Guyana and Venezuela have consensus on 11 points in the document, including a follow-up meeting in Brazil within the next three months or at another agreed time.
