Dr Amery Browne says he has not been approached by the Diego Martin West constituency to be nominated as its electoral candidate.
His denial follows a newspaper article which stated that Dr Browne was tipped to replace Dr Keith Rowley in the seat.
Dr Browne posted the following statement on his Facebook page:
“I wish to categorically state that I have not been approached by the Constituency of Diego Martin West with respect to nomination as an electoral candidate, and I have had no such conversations or intentions or “blessings”. Anything published to suggest otherwise is at best speculation or at worst the result of pure and deliberate MISCHIEF.”
Dr Browne is currently a Senator and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
He previously served as MP for Diego Martin Central from 2007 to 2015.
Dr Rowley meanwhile has hinted in the past that he intended to bow out of politics soon.
