Differently abled students to benefit from laptop distribution

The Education Ministry is ensuring that provisions are made to cater to the needs of differently abled children for its upcoming laptop distribution to Form 1 students.

Education Minister Dr Michael Dowlath confirmed this with 103.1FM News via WhatsApp this afternoon.

He said students who are visually impaired, hearing impaired and differently abled are included in the laptop distribution, with their various needs being considered.

He added the accessibility features to support these learners are currently being finalized and will be integrated into the devices to ensure equitable access to digital learning.

The Minister said this forms part of the Ministry’s commitment to inclusive and equitable education for all students.

Last week, Executive Director of the Blind Welfare Association Kenneth Suratt made an appeal to the Education Minister to ensure visually impaired students are considered in the laptop distribution programme.
