Desalcott’s Point Lisas Desalination Plant will be shut down for seven days, from Monday November 11th to Sunday November 17th 2024.
This is to facilitate maintenance works.
These works were previously planned for September, but were rescheduled to allow for greater recovery of WASA’s supply networks, following the harsh dry season.
Since the plant provides 40 million gallons daily to WASA, the Authority says measures will be taken to mitigate the impact on its operations
Today, acting CEO, Kelvin Romain, outlined the following:
- Re-distribution of supply from the Caroni and Navet Water Treatment Plants
- Implementation of temporary supply schedules to be published on WASA’s social media pages.
- Ensure capacity storage at critical service reservoirs prior to the shutdown
- Increased water trucking capacity
- Special emphasis and arrangements to supply schools, health institutions, homes for aged and other special needs organisations
Persons are also being advised to maintain/establish a system of storage over the period of the shutdown and to also manage their water use efficiently.
