The Point Lisas Desalination Plant has been restarted.
The facility’s shutdown was due to continue until October 24th, however WASA, says it was restarted at approximately 7:15pm yesterday, October 22nd.
Desalcott, which owns and operates the Plant, has since been ramping up operations, which currently stands at 36 million gallons per day, or 90% of the contractual agreement of 40 mgd.
WASA says while the facility was restarted ahead of time, Desalcott has advised that works necessary to return the Plant to full production of 40 mgd, are still ongoing.
The Authority says it is working towards the gradual normalization of its transmission and distribution system over the coming days.
However, it adds that those in elevated areas or at the extremities of the distribution system may continue to experience a disruption in service until the Plant returns to full production.
