The Health Ministry says legal action may soon be taken against some persons who failed to clean up their properties.
In an update issued today, it says as at August 21st 2024, 503 yellow fever notices have been issued to property owners/occupiers, directing them to clean up their surroundings.
Of this, 16 owners/occupiers have thus far been identified for the consideration/institution of legal proceedings for non-compliance.
According to the update, the number of lab confirmed Dengue deaths in T&T remains at eight, with 911 lab confirmed cases.
Dengue Fever may be spread by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, with symptoms appearing within 5-6 days of being bitten.
These last for 1-2 weeks and can include: fever, headaches, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pains, skin rash, nausea/vomiting and diarrhoea.
Anyone showing signs or symptoms of Dengue Fever should seek immediate medical treatment.
The Ministry adds that persons with symptoms should not use aspirin, motrin, cataflam, olfen or ibuprofen, as these can cause bleeding which leads to shock.
They are instead advised to use paracetamol, acetaminophen (Panadol/Tylenol) or medicines prescribed by a doctor.
