Opposition Shadow Energy Minister David Lee is calling on the government to address rumours that a preferred bidder has been selected for the Petrotrin Refinery.
At a UNC Pavement meeting last evening, Mr Lee asked Energy Minister Stuart Young to confirm if the Nigerian company, Oanda PLC was earmarked by the Cabinet as the winning bidder.
He called for the refinery to remain in the hands of the T&T people since he says Oanda has no track record in the refining business.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Dr Rowley said negotiations should be completed by the end of February 2025 and a selected bidder will follow shortly after.
