A councillor is calling for joint police and army patrols in Cunupia, an area which he says is a “frightening place” to live and do business.

This follows the kidnapping of businessman Suvesh Ramnarine on October 12th and the kidnapping and murder of businessman Sachel Kungebeharry in September.

Cunupia Councillor Richard Sukdeo says crime is out of control in his district and has created an atmosphere of fear and uneasiness.

He believes officers of both the TTPS and Defence Force must hit the streets in an attempt to restore comfort to both the business and residential communities.
