The Counter Trafficking Unit says it remains steadfast in protecting children from exploitation.
This message comes in commemoration of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2024, which has the theme “Leave No Child Behind.”
According to the United Nations, one in three victims of human trafficking is a child – the majority of which are girls.
Furthermore, it notes that children are twice as likely as adults to face violence during trafficking.
The Counter Trafficking Unit says among its initiatives launched this year, was a spoken word competition aimed at providing youths with a platform to express their thoughts on trafficking.
It believes the initiative was successful in empowering the youth, fostering awareness and inspiring action among the next generation.
