Jaguar has unveiled an electric concept car that is not being received well.
The Jaguar Type 00, presented in Miami on Monday, is described by the company as having “bold forms and exuberant proportions to inspire future Jaguars”.
The new concept vehicle painted in “Miami Pink” and “London Blue” as well as featuring a long bonnet, sweeping roofline and 23-inch alloy wheels.
Jaguar is set to reveal the production-ready version of the vehicle by late 2025, and it is expected to sell for more than $127,000.
Criticism of the design however has been stinging on social media, with many mocking the design and colours.
Some also believed the design to be underwhelming, with one social media user stating, “You mean to tell me that this is the best that y’all have come up with?”.
Some however believe its a sign of good things to come, with another social media user writing, “Beautiful! I’m glad to see that Jaguar are moving away from their ‘cars for old men’ image and towards a more future and innovative design approach!”
And then, there were those who had a lighter take: “The new Jaguar looks like a car that a Batman villain would drive. I’m kind of feeling the blue one. Mr. Freeze.”
The criticism over the design follows backlash over a radical rebrand of the iconic company.
Last month, Jaguar launched dramatic changes to its branding — dubbed “Copy Nothing” and featuring an advertisement that was slammed as too “woke”.
The move attracted criticism for the use of eye-catching bright colours and a modern logo featuring geometric shapes.
Some even attacked the advert as being too “woke”.
