Crime Stoppers Trinidad and Tobago has doubled the reward for removing illegal guns from the streets.
For every handgun, it’s $4,000, for every shotgun it’s $5,000 and for automatic rifles it’s $7,000 per piece.
At a TTPS media briefing this morning, Crime Stoppers T&T Director Darrin Carmichael said these rewards will continue for the remaining period of the State of Emergency.
He also reminded that all tips will be anonymous.
Acting Police Commissioner of Junior Benjamin reiterated the need for a programme of this nature, as he pointed to the prevalent use of firearms in murders.
He said there have been 94 murders so far this year, with guns used in 69 of these cases.
