Officials in Guyana say assessments will be done to avoid a recurrence of issues with the floodlights at the National Stadium.

Last evening, TKR was knocked out of CPL 2024 after its eliminator was marred by floodlight failure – TKR made 168/3 in 19.1 overs against Barbados Royals before three floodlights shut off.

Guyana’s Sport Ministry and the Guyana Power and Light Inc. say a technical fault had to be addressed with one light, which was eventually restored around 10:51pm.

The Royals then successfully chased a DLS-revised target of 60 in 5 overs and, speaking after the game, TKR Captain Kieron Pollard said 169 runs would have been difficult for Barbados to chase.

However, he noted that things sometimes happen that are outside of their control but added that ground staff and other officials did what they could to get the game restarted.

Viewers later expressed their opinions that the result was unfair.
