The High Court has ruled that the decision to suspend Police Commissioner Erla Harewood-Christopher was lawful, reasonable and proportionate.
At the same time however, a decision has been made by the Police Service Commission to reinstate her.
The suspension on January 31st came on the heels of an investigation into the procurement and importation of two sniper rifles for the Strategic Services Agency.
Mrs Harewood-Christopher challenged the PSC’s move, however Justice Christopher Sieuchand this morning found that the Commission acted within its authority.
During the hearing, the PSC’s lead attorney also revealed that a decision was made to lift the suspension, since the DPP had decided against moving forward with the case against the Top Cop.
A letter reinstating Mrs Harewood-Christopher is expected today, just days before her term of as Top Cop is due to end.
