Court matters against UNC Deputy Leader David Lee discharged

Two court matters against UNC Deputy Leader David Lee have been discharged.

In 2022, Mr Lee was charged with misbehaviour in public office and conspiring to defraud the State of more than $1.4 million in motor vehicle taxes in relation to a Mercedes Benz AMG G 63 vehicle.

He was charged alongside businessman Hugh Leong Poi, with the case stating that he sought to obtain tax exemptions for the purchase of the car by falsely claiming it was for his use as an MP.

Today, Chief Magistrate Christine Charles upheld the no case submissions made by Mr Lee’s attorneys.

Mr Lee is the outgoing MP for Pointe-a-Pierre and the UNC’s candidate for Caroni Central in the April 28th General Elections.
