Counterfeit items seized in Penal

Over $57,000 worth of counterfeit items has been seized by police.

A 21-year-old man was also arrested following a multi-agency operation in Penal last week.

Between 10:30am and 6pm on January 17th 2025, three businesses were searched for counterfeit items and illegal gambling activities.

As a result, $57,665 in counterfeit items and $34,744 relative to illegal gambling activities were seized.

The TTPS gave no details regarding the counterfeit items.

A restaurant and bar owner was also arrested for managing a Common Gaming House.

The TTPS says the joint operation included personnel of the Multi-Agency Task Force, Health Ministry’s Chemistry, Food and Drug Division, the T&T Bureau of Standards, the Public Utilities Ministry’s Government Electrical Inspectorate, the Labour Ministry’s OSHA Department, the T&T Fire Services’ Fire Prevention Department and the Customs & Excise Division’s Customs Enforcement Department.
