The Police Commissioner has ordered an investigation into an incident in which a woman constable reportedly lied in court.
According to the Trinidad Express, a judge allegedly found inconsistencies in the evidence given by the recently recruited officer.
The matter stems from a court case in which jewellery officers say was in a suspect’s possession unlawfully.
Following the reports of the police officer’s inconsistencies, Police Commissioner Erla Christopher has given instructions for an investigation to immediately be launched into the matter.
She added that the alleged misconduct, as reported, is troubling and dishonestly will not be tolerated from officers of the law.
