There is outrage in Bamboo #2 over a recent warning regarding a guard booth in the area.

In a Facebook Live video, businessman and activist Inshan Ishmael said residents agreed on the measure several months ago following extortion attempts, robberies and other crimes.

He claimed officials from the Works Ministry informed them today that there was to be no vending at the location.

He said they were also warned that the structure must be taken down in seven days or it would be demolished.

Mr Ishmael insisted that construction of the booth is supported by the majority of the villagers and businessmen in the area.

He added that construction will continue, with legal options to be explored.

Attempts to contact Works Minister Rohan Sinanan on the matter have been unsuccessful.
