Guyanese authorities are assessing damages, after a coastal vessel collided with the Demerara Harbour Bridge early this morning.
News Room Guyana says the majority of the damage occurred at Spans 42 and 43 of the bridge.
An anchor block also suffered some damage.
The vessel, MV Princess Anisa, is registered to INS Shipping and there are reports that the incident occurred after members of the crew fell asleep.
Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar is quoted as saying that the vessel’s owner will be held responsible for the damage.
