Two officers from the TTPS’ Coastal Support Unit are being treated for injuries sustained during an incident while at sea this morning.
Around 10:30am, PC Tirbanie and PC Gonzales were aboard Marine Vehicle CP-002 in the Gulf of Paria.
After refuelling the vessel and just as they were nearing Peakes, an explosion was allegedly heard at the stern, which threw both men into the sea.
The officers were assisted by the Coast Guard which took them to Staubles Bay and then to the St. James hospital for treatment.
One officer received burn injuries to his face, left and right arms and back, while the other received an injury to his left leg.
