The T&T Coast Guard has confirmed the death of a serving member.

In a brief statement, it says the “unfortunate incident” took place at the TTCG Junior Rates’ Male Dormitory at the Heliport Base, Chaguaramas.

The sailor was taken to the St. James Medical Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The TTCG says no one else was involved or injured in the incident.

No further details were given.
