NGC Green will construct and operate a new CNG filling station just south of the Union Industrial Estate in La Brea.
It says this is geared toward serving the motoring public in the wider south-western peninsula.
The proposed new station is expected to take at least two years to construct, inclusive of regulatory approvals.
It will open daily and feature a cashless payment system.
The location identified is between Vessigny and Vance River, with easy access from both the new Pt Fortin Archibald-De Leon Highway and the Southern Main Rd.
NGC Green says over the last two months, officials met with the leadership of the Pt Fortin to San Fernando taxi drivers association, with several potential sites identified for the new supply point.
It adds that the eventual location was chosen due to its proximity to the natural gas pipeline at Union Industrial Estate and ease of access for vehicular traffic.
NGC Green’s statement says, “CNG continues to be the most economical vehicular fuel, priced at TT$1 per litre equivalent and emits approximately 30% less harmful emissions on combustion. From 2014 to end of November 2024, an estimated 97,000 Tonnes of CO2 emissions have been saved as a result of the CNG initiative.”
