China offers US$10 billion credit line to Caribbean and Latin American countries

Caribbean and Latin America CELAC members will benefit from a credit line of US$9.2 billion, from China to support development, however the credit would be in the Chinese yuan currency.

This comes out of this year’s China-CELAC Forum, where China’s President Xi Jinping leads talks for deepening strategic and economic ties with the Caribbean and Latin American region.

Mr Jinping also said that China will implement a visa-free policy for five Latin American and Caribbean countries; however he has not yet indicated which countries.

The China-CELAC Forum  provides a framework for dialogue and cooperation between China and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
