A child was among two persons killed, following separate shooting incidents in Laventille yesterday afternoon.
In the first incident at 4:30PM, a drive-by shooting incident occurred along Laventille Road.
39-year-old Akhel Fairbairn had just returned home with his daughter, when a white vehicle pulled alongside their red Kia and shots were fired from inside.
Fairbairn was struck about his body, and the vehicle drove off.
A short distance away, 12-year-old Ezekiel Paria was found lying on the roadway in the vicinity of Map Trace, with gunshot wounds to his body.
Residents took both wounded persons to hospital, where the child was pronounced dead, and Fairbairn underwent emergency surgery.
One report noted that police have arrested two suspects for questioning in this matter.
In a separate incident around 5pm, a 30-year-old Laventille man was shot to death inside his Williams Street home.
The victim’s wife heard several loud explosions from the living room and saw two men exiting the front door.
Her common law husband, Shakeel Paul was found slumped on a sofa, suffering from gunshot wounds.
The assailants escaped and Paul was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
