CEPEP, police and livestock farmers feel the heat

CEPEP is considering cutting back work time by one hour to protect workers from the heat.

The Chairman said they are also looking at possibly getting contactors to provide water to workers on the job, and to assist workers if they are showing signs of being negatively impacted by the heat.

CEPEP has already advised its workers to be aware of potential heat-related injuries and to remain hydrated, taking breaks when necessary and wearing appropriate clothing.

Meanwhile, despite the heat, police officers are also protecting themselves from the heat as patrols are continuing as normal.

And, livestock farmers are also feeling the heat, as the amount of milk being produced is being affected.

Newsday reported that Sheet and Goat Farmer Shiraz Khan said his goat milk production has dropped nearly 25 per cent.

In addition, he says food sources for his animals are being affected as the grass is drying quickly, and there is also a water supply issue.
