Today is World Steelpan Day and celebrations are taking place in several countries, including here in T&T.

The United Nations last month adopted August 11th as World Steelpan Day, to be observed annually.

According to Pan Trinbago’s Facebook page, a number of countries are hosting celebrations today, including Canada, the United States, Antigua and Barbuda and St Vincent and the Grenadines.

In T&T, celebrations will take place from 5pm at Woodford Square in Port of Spain.

There will be performances by a number of steelbands including 2023 Panorama winners BP Renegades.
