The Chaguaramas Development Authority has taken possession of the premises previously occupied by the Chaguaramas Military History and Aerospace Museum.
In a statement, the CDA says the exercise was conducted in a “peaceable manner” and in accordance with the law.
It also described the situation as “regrettable” insisting that the Museum’s management was “offered numerous opportunities over the years to regularize their occupation” but “stoutly refused to do so.”
Following the CDA’s action, the site was visited by Gary Griffith, who is a former Defence Force Captain.
Mr Griffith referred to it as the most significant military museum in the Americas and accused the CDA of destroying T&T’s history.
The CDA was also accused of preventing a woman from accessing the compound to retrieve her medication.
Mr Griffith has since called on MP Dr Keith Rowley, as well as election hopefuls contesting the area, to intervene in the matter.
