Castara in Tobago possesses great potential as a tourism village according to a member of the Castara Village Council.

Junior Quashie was one of the delegates who represented the village in the World Tourism Organization’s “Best Tourism Villages’ Upgrade Programme” in Italy in July 2023.

Last December, Castara was picked from 130 applications by 57 countries to be part of the initiative which affords workshops and networking sessions that showcased the village.

Mr Quashie said, even though many of the persons in the workshops had never heard about Tobago, photos they were shown of Castara convinced them to visit.

He believes that if Castara’s potential is worked on by the community, can ensure that the village remains a “Best Tourism Village.”
