Despite a career best 88 from Keacy Carty, West Indies have lost the opening ODI against Australia in Melbourne.
Batting first at the MCG, West Indies were bowled out for 231 in 48.4 overs as Carty made his third ODI half-century and going past his previous best score by one run.
Roston Chase made 59 while Player of the Match Xavier Bartlett took 4/17 in nine overs.
Australia chased the target in just 38.3 overs getting to 232/2 on the back of 79 not out from Steve Smith, 77 not out from Cameron Green and 65 from Josh Inglis.
The series continues tomorrow in Sydney from 11:30pm AST.
