CARPHA, through its Regional Tourism and Health Programme, has strengthened Guyana’s public health readiness as it anticipates expansion in tourist accommodations.
The programme catered for reducing potential public health risks associated with increased tourist activity, as over 2,000 new hotel rooms are expected by the end of 2025.
The Agency delivered advanced food safety training, conducted infectious disease prevention and control sessions, and presented an updated Hospitality, Health Safety and Environmental Standards to the Guyana’s tourism bodies.
It was funded by CARPHA’s Pandemic Fund Project and the European Union’s 11th European Development Fund Regional Health Security Programme.
